$ urpmi --version
urpmi 8.01

Example 1:
$ urpmf --recommends foo
Can't locate object method "recommends" via package "URPM::Package" at (eval 13) line 4.

Example2:
$ urpmq --recommends lightdm
Can't locate object method "recommends" via package "URPM::Package" at /usr/bin/urpmq line 512.

So, there are two different errors.

Yes, one needs to use recommends_nosense for now
