I have same problem on 32-bit Mageia-5A2 on Toshiba laptop. After large Cauldron update finished with same VLC problem: # urpmi --auto-update medium "Core Release (distrib1)" is up-to-date medium "Core Updates (distrib3)" is up-to-date medium "Nonfree Release (distrib11)" is up-to-date medium "Nonfree Updates (distrib13)" is up-to-date medium "Nonfree Backports (distrib17)" is up-to-date medium "Tainted Release (distrib21)" is up-to-date medium "Tainted Updates (distrib23)" is up-to-date medium "Tainted Backports (distrib27)" is up-to-date A requested package cannot be installed: vlc-plugin-common-2.1.5-4.mga5.i586 (due to unsatisfied libsamplerate.so.0(libsamplerate.so.0.0)) Continue installation anyway? (Y/n) Y While some packages may have been installed, there were failures. maurice I saw this, too, on two 64bits cauldrons so far, but on both: /usr/lib64/libsamplerate.so.0 is present (and links to /usr/lib64/libsamplerate.so.0.1.8 ) The source of vlc didn't change, and I don't see how the changes to the spec file could cause this Anyway, added vlc to the skip list for now. cc'ing the last two committers and the vlc maintainer. 6219 According to discussions on the dev mailing list, it's most likely an issue linked with the recent changes to RPM and our build system. Created attachment 5418 [details] urpmi --auto-update --debug output (In reply to Florian Hubold from comment #3) > Please add the urpmi --auto-update --debug output as a text file. Sorry, should have pasted this here: 2014:09:16:20:43 < Luigi12_work> if you mean the libsamplerate one, it's not a vlc bug, it's an rpm bug 2014:09:16:20:43 < Luigi12_work> pterjan's working on it And pterjan pushed new rpm: pterjan <pterjan> 1:4.12.0-0.rc1.6.mga5: + Revision: 685056 - Generate ELF provides for libraries, not only for executables not sure whether that should have fixed it, but I still have the bug.
