Description Kristoffer Grundström 2014-08-30 04:52:58 CEST
Description of problem: As it doesn't seem to exist a solution to have abrt or bug-buddy to report in English even if you type in your native language I'd like to see that everyone should have the opportunity to report any issue in their native language since people tend to act like brats if you tell them that English is the only language that they have to report in. Also, there are users in other countries who doesn't learn English so the only way they can communicate is in their native languages. It's also easier to understand someone from the same country if you're also communicate in that language.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 4.4.4

How reproducible: All the time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open your webbrowser of choice.
2. Go to http://bugs.mageia.org/
3. Change language of the page on the top right corner just like on http://www.mageia.org/ and then report the issue in your language and all is very happy and satisfied.

And if the maintainer or the bugsquad don't understand this language ?
Comment 2 Thomas Backlund 2014-08-30 22:38:42 CEST
Yeah, this wont be a reality until we have enough bugsquad and maintainers that can cover all languages...

It's still a good idea to make more people use Mageia.
Comment 4 Thomas Backlund 2014-08-31 00:36:23 CEST
So.... a new user shows up, reports a bug in his own language, no-one is able to understand him, so bug never get triaged or fixed... so he gets disappointed and complains "nobady care or fix my bugs" ...

How will that "make more people use Mageia" ? It's more likely to create bad press...

As of now people here in Sweden that are lazy and doesn't want to read English won't use Linux in any form. Is that better?
Comment 6 Kristoffer Grundström 2014-08-31 15:43:55 CEST
If it's possible for people to become a maintainer in their language it might work.

If you can't bring Mohammed to the mountain..............

It's not something that _we_ can do. You can start a local community website for Swedish speaking people, and propose to be the bridge between bugzilla and their reports in Swedish on your local ML or forum.

That's what we do with the French-speaking community on MLO. Many can't read or write English, so we try to help them to report bugs.

If people start reporting bugs in Swedish on bugzilla, I don't see what could that would do. Who would handle it? You and tmb? I think Thomas has enough to do with kernels, drivers and Live media.
