mageia @David: This is more of an upstream issue no? Did you find out how Qt translations are handled? Maybe some of us could join their translation team and help to translation Qt4-Linguist and Qt5 in French (I've noticed that lots of things are untranslated in Qt5 generally speaking). CC:

remi Yes this is an upstream issue. Yes exactly a lot of Qt4/5 tools are untranslated or partially translated for french languages and maybe for others too.(This is really heartbreaking.) By cons, for such translations of qttools5 we must install qttranslations package, it should be required by qttools5 but this is not the case for now (you have to install it manually). I'm not so sure anymore that this is totally an upstream issue (apart from the fact that the French translation for qt4-linguist is practically empty). There are translation files for many languages in qt4-linguist, but none are displayed when choosing them with "LANGUAGE=xx linguist". $ ll /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84653 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_cs.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 49553 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_de.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84858 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_eu.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 261 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_fr.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44110 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_hu.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 65877 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_ja.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 64820 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_ko.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 66401 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_pl.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84596 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_ru.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 46495 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_sl.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84805 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_uk.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 31590 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_zh_CN.qm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 31761 nov. 30 22:24 /usr/share/qt4/translations/linguist_zh_TW.qm Ok, I could confirm that the translations _work_ in qt4-linguist with another locale than French, e.g. German. So the issue here is only that Linguist was not translated into French, so WONTFIX on Mageia's side. As for Qt5 apps, Nicolas will add the missing requirements on qttranslations5. @ Luc, Nicolas: Regarding the missing requirements for qttranslations5: I wonder where would be the most pertinent place(s) to add it. Here is the list of translations files (I took Ukrainian as an example because it's one of the only complete translations): /usr/share/qt5/translations/assistant_uk.qm => qttools5-assistant /usr/share/qt5/translations/designer_uk.qm => qttools5-designer /usr/share/qt5/translations/linguist_uk.qm => qttools5 /usr/share/qt5/translations/qmlviewer_uk.qm => qtquick5-qmlviewer /usr/share/qt5/translations/qt_help_uk.qm => libqthelp5 /usr/share/qt5/translations/qt_uk.qm => ? libqtcore5 /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtbase_uk.qm => qtbase5common /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtconfig_uk.qm => ? /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtconnectivity_uk.qm => qtconnectivity5 (only in SRPM repo?) /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtdeclarative_uk.qm => qtdeclarative5 /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtlocation_uk.qm => qtlocation5 (only in SRPM repo?) /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtmultimedia_uk.qm => qtmultimedia5 /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtquick1_uk.qm => libqt5quick5 /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtscript_uk.qm => libqtscript5 /usr/share/qt5/translations/qtxmlpatterns_uk.qm => libqtxmlpatterns5 So it seems those translations files are not only needed for Qt Apps but also for libraries such as qtbase, qtmultimedia, etc. WDYT? Should it be bluntly added as a Requires in qtbase, or split in all subpackages? CC:
