Description of problem:
If login to LXDE via xdm, you will get a dialog ask for root password when you want to reboot or halt. But the dialog will vanish before you can even input password.

If login via slim, there will be a line of message when you want to reboot or halt:
org.freedesktop.hal.power-management.shutdown no <-- (action, result)
org.freedesktop.hal.power-management.reboot no <-- (action, result)

How reproducible:
Only login via xdm or slim, sometimes gdm but not always.


Steps to Reproduce:
1.install xdm, slim, lxde.
2.change dm to xdm or slim, restart dm service when asked.
3.login to lxde via xdm or slim.
4.try to shutdown or reboot.

Is this bug still valid?

LXDE does halt and reboot and halt fine, when using kdm, so I strongly suggest the dm.

Bug still presents in both Mageia 1 and cauldron.
Install kdm requires a lot of dependency, which makes a lxde installation not light anymore.

If this bug must be resolved because it won't be fixed, please resolve it as "WONTFIX" instead of "OLD". Plus it should be noted in Errata of every official release.

The bug was resolved as OLD because there was no reaction from you on it and I can't reproduce it here.
Cannot reproduce here.
I tried gdm and lxdm and the described problem didn't happen.

I can reproduce with xdm and slim, but both are not really full featured dms, thus it would be a WONTFIX.

Could you please try and reproduce on a clean installation using gdm or lxdm?

Of course this bug didn't happen on gdm or lxdm, because I reported it ONLY reproducible in slim and xdm, as described in original bug report.  

Please go resolve it as WONTFIX, then. I have no problem with that. Though xdm and slim are not full featured dms, lxde is a featured de of Mageia. It is possible that users may encounter same situation and report it again. So I would suggest, at least, noted this bug in Errata of official release.

You mentioned gdm in the initial report as well.

The problem is:
lxde does iirc use the functionality of the dm here, so if the dm doesn't provide it, it isn't there.

But you are right, it should be mentioned in the errata.
