OK, after doing some googling, I came across a bug in rpm that was fixed in 2003, causing the same segfault related to a glibc update. I decided to try booting to an older kernel first, before downgrading glibc. The bug seems to have been introduced in 3.10.50, as 3.10.44 allowed updates to run normally. CC:
