Description Jan Merta 2011-05-22 18:46:34 CEST
Description:
When the sound level is set to 4 % (through applet in Gnome or alsamixer, Master Front set to 0 dB gain - normally) the loudness is like when the volume is set to 20 % normally, on 9% it is like about 60 % (very loud). (While I usually use volume 25 - 50 %, this makes setting volume via volume control applet or hotkeys unusable.)

When occurs:
After every boot or spontaneously.

Workaround:
It helps to run alsamixer -> select sound card -> switch "Independent HP" to on and off (with on option headphones / external reproductors do not work). But with new boot the problem is back.

System:
Mageia Beta 2, RC1 (same problem was in Mandriva 2010.2), soundcard Ati Azalia SBx00, chip VIA VT1708S, driver snd_hda_intel (default)

Is this still valid with an up-to-date system?

It seems not to be valid anymore in Mageia 1. Even in RC1 it dissapeared after some time. (update?)

OK. Closing.
