I'll second this. Under Gnome, KPPP crashes on each disconnect (using dgc modem and driver from linuxant). CC:

wrw105 I'd like to see this added to 1 as well. Here's the URL for the mandriva package as of 10.2: ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distributions/mandrivalinux/official/10.2/SRPMS/main/gnome-phone-manager-0.4-4mdk.src.rpm Created attachment 810 [details]
source code for gnome ppp
Sorry about the wrong info last time. here's the source code, which I've been able to compile and it's working on my system (it's how I'm connected now)
Why you upload the source code here ? It is nt easy availiable ? It is, but there's been no action on what is basically a trivial problem. Trying to prod things along as much as possible. Feel free to help on packaging, we search padawan ;) Manuel, I'd be glad to help, but packaging is a bit beyond my current skill set. I can run configure/make/install scripts with the best of 'em though. :-) Is there some documentation somewhere to walk a newb through the process? Thanks! Bill May be the project is dead , i cannot find the source code here: http://www.gnome-ppp.org/ The site has only a banner header, and the rest is empty (In reply to comment #7) > Manuel, > > I'd be glad to help, but packaging is a bit beyond my current skill set. marja11 Bill, if you're still willing to learn how to package, don't hesitate to follow the instructions at: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager or come to #mageia-mentoring on freenode. Otherwise, this project seems dead. Are there alternatives that could be used? Can you submit a bug report on kppp if it crashes? Thanks. CC:

malo my opinion is that an unmaintained program should nt be imported Do you want to close this bug report ? I'll look into the packaging stuff. I've just been playing around with compiling existing packages (backports of a few things from cauldron into my system so far). Looking a little more deeply into the gnome-ppp package, the package itself is essentially a gtk frontend for wvdial, so I"m not sure how much ongoing development it would really need, unless there are major changes under Gnome 3. Development could be: - gtk 3.x instead of gtk 2.x - gsettings instead of gconf - gtkbuilder instead of glade - wvdial changes breaking gnome-ppp Just FYI, if you want to import, import. CC:

djmarian4u Alex imported gnome-ppp: http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/gnome-ppp/ Closing the bug then. Status:
NEW =>
RESOLVED gnome-ppp was forked with name gtk-ppp using gtk3 only: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gtk-ppp/ and will be replaced in Mageia 6. |
