I wonder if this has any relationship to the ffmpeg issues with audacity (probably not). Anyway, there is a *newer* version of audacity which was recently packaged for Cauldron (version 2.0.5). You can try building audacity 2.0.5 from our source RPM and see if that fixes the issue. If it does, we could backport it as an update.

lists.jjorge Well, that would be great, but the problem is i don't know how to do that. If i knew, i would have probably not even file this bug, instead use another source, compile it, install it, use it :)) and also i would have enter the..."packages team" to add/mantain more software in Mageia because i think that the bigger is the variety of available software in a distro, the better! It is the main reason i like arch based os's (because of the AUR), other than that, Mageia is my favorite in almost any matter. I tested, and audacity 2.0.5 fixes the equalizer bug for me on MGA4. So I push it to updates_testing. Status:

ASSIGNED I have uploaded a updated package for Mageia 4. You can test this 1. Start audacity 2. Load an audio file 3. Select "equalization" from the effect menu It crashes with 2.0.4, and should not with 2.0.5 . Suggested advisory: ======================== Updated audacity packages fix a crash along with some other bugfixes. ======================== Updated packages in core/updates_testing: ======================== audacity-2.0.5-1.mga4 i586 and x86_64 Source RPMs: audacity-2.0.5-1.mga4.srpm Assignee:

qa-bugs I have search for the package but there is no 2.0.5, only the 2.0.4 old one. (In reply to Daniel Jackson from comment #5) > I have search for the package but there is no 2.0.5, only the 2.0.4 old one. It's in the updates_testing medium, which isn't enabled by default: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Enabling_the_Testing_media Status:

NEW I'd recommend including a link to the 2.0.5 Release Notes as a reference in the advisory. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.0.5 (In reply to Daniel Jackson from comment #5) > I have search for the package but there is no 2.0.5, only the 2.0.4 old one. It was pushed at the same time José posted his comment. You may wait a bit until it come into your favourite mirror. I did enable core update testing since youre first comment, i also check it now again but it still does not show up, maybe we have to wait a bit more. Might be something wrong? it still does not show up in core updates testing It's in distrib-coffee, but maybe your mirror takes time to sync? http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/Mageia/distrib/4/x86_64/media/core/updates_testing/ CC:

remi I have enabled all i could find with "core updates testing (distribxx)", i guess that's why i could not find because i was only enabling just one "core updates testing", it's a bit confusing, maybe (distribxx) means different servers. Anyway, i installed audacity 2.0.5, and so far is working good no matter what i did, no problem noticed so far, no crash no nothing. Thank you verry much, and i hope it will be "pushed?!" to normal core (no testing) :) to Core Updates when validated, yes. Hardware:

All According to the upstream release notes, this equalizer issue was only 64-bit, so just basic testing on i586 should be sufficient. (Also just a reminder to include the Release Notes link in the advisory :o) In VirtualBox, M4, KDE, 32-bit Package(s) under test: audacity default install of audacity [root@localhost wilcal]# urpmi audacity Package audacity-2.0.4-3.mga4.i586 is already installed Audacity works for me including opening the equalization function, editing an imported mp3 file, saving the project then exporting to a newly named file with the equalization changes. install audacity from updates_testing [root@localhost wilcal]# urpmi audacity Package audacity-2.0.5-1.mga4.i586 is already installed Audacity works for me here too including opening the equalization function, editing an imported mp3 file, saving the project then exporting to a newly named file with the equalization changes.
