Local problem. Check your DNS servers, it seems they are unable to resolve download.skype.com. Status:

RESOLVED (In reply to Sander Lepik from comment #1) > Local problem. Check your DNS servers, it seems they are unable to resolve > download.skype.com. It's not a problem of DNS, but the URL download.skype.com no longer exists: it's replaced by http://www.skype.com/fr/download-skype/skype-for-computer/ you have to change it in the package get-skype Furthermore, even skype-4.2.0.13.tar.bz2, which fine works with mageia2.x86_64 and mageia3.x86_64 doesn't work at all under mageia4.x86_64 (no sound). It's why I wish that mageia becomes a rolling release distrib, since at each new versions issues appear. Obtaining "a page not found" and then a redirection does not mean than the url in the script does not work. Here it works fine too. Source RPM:

(none) http://download.skype.com/linux/skype-4.2.0.11.tar.bz2 works fine here! wget : impossible de résoudre l'adresse de l'hôte «download.skype.com» - using google translate it renders to "impossible to resolve host address "download.skype.com"" That pretty much means that your DNS is faulty. OK, and what I have to do to fix it? here is my /etc/nsswitch.conf file: # /etc/nsswitch.conf # # An example Name Service Switch config file. This file should be # sorted with the most-used services at the beginning. # # The entry '[NOTFOUND=return]' means that the search for an # entry should stop if the search in the previous entry turned # up nothing. Note that if the search failed due to some other reason # (like no NIS server responding) then the search continues with the # next entry. # # Legal entries are: # # compat Use compatibility setup # nisplus or nis+ Use NIS+ (NIS version 3) # nis or yp Use NIS (NIS version 2), also called YP # dns Use DNS (Domain Name Service) # files Use the local files # db Use the local database (.db) files # [NOTFOUND=return] Stop searching if not found so far # # For more information, please read the nsswitch.conf.5 manual page. # # passwd: files nis # shadow: files nis # group: files nis passwd: files shadow: files group: files hosts: mdns4_minimal files nis dns myhostname networks: files services: files protocols: files rpc: files ethers: files netmasks: files netgroup: files publickey: files bootparams: files automount: files aliases: files Is it OK? Thank you for replying. I finally successfully installed get-skype4.2.0.11-5.mga4.nonfree.noarch with mageia-control-center, without host resolving problem. But there is no sound at all (see comment 2) although libpulseaudio0 is installed. (see https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1121) Please open a new bug report for the sound problem, it will be easier to track. Thanks :) CC:
