Upgrading from Mageia 3 to 4 I was hit by the following error:

Installation failed:    task-lxde-minimal is needed by (installed) task-lxde-1:3-5.mga3.noarch
While some packages may have been installed, there were failures.
Some requested packages cannot be installed:
lxde-common-0.5.5-19.mga4.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied notification-daemon)
notification-daemon-0.7.6-3.mga4.i586 (due to conflicts with xfce4-notifyd-0.2.4-2.mga4.x86_64)
notification-daemon-0.7.6-3.mga4.x86_64 (due to conflicts with xfce4-notifyd-0.2.4-2.mga4.x86_64, due to conflicts with xfce4-notifyd-0.2.4-2.mga4.x86_64)

After removal of task-lxde-minimal I was able to continue the upgrade process.
