Description of problem:
executing gnome-control-center from console shows empty non-functional window. The window title is "System Settings" but the window is empty. Entering a term like "display" in the search box results in this error in the console:
(gnome-control-center:32401): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from `GtkTreeView' to `GtkIconView'

(gnome-control-center:32401): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_icon_view_item_activated: assertion `GTK_IS_ICON_VIEW (icon_view)' failed

Mageia 3 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status 4 months ago.
