Description Tony Blackwell 2011-05-11 10:01:47 CEST
Description of problem:
Once online software sources are enabled, hard to just install something from the DVD if anything in install list requires online. Converse also true; hard to install anything without DVD even if the required software is available online.

Could the installer handle this more gracefully? Tell you there is no net connection and just get what it can off the DVD rather than crashing the whole install list? Go to the online sources if DVD not available?

A specific test case would be easier to see.

@ Tony

Can you please make more clear what you want or miss?

* Is this only about installing from DVD, not about installing packages afterwards?

* Can you give an example with the Mageia 2 Alpha 1 DVD ?

@ Tony

After rereading the description, I think you are talking about installing packages in an already existing Mageia.

But as Ahmad said, it would make it easier to have a specific test case. Since you are talking about two situations, we'd appreciate it if you'd give an example of each of them. (No need to install Mageia 2 alpha, I asked that because I misread your description.)
