Description Atilla ÖNTAŞ 2014-01-20 07:04:31 CET
Testing with latest RC Classical Installer on a real hardware. If i use btrfs for root partition, installer doesn't warn about grub issue that it can not boot into a btrfs root. After install, grub can not determine what filesystem is the root partition and enters into rescue mode.

Re-formatting root partition as ext4 solves this problem. Didn't try a separate /boot partition.

We should either use grub2 by default or installer should warn and offer creating a separate ext4 formatted /boot partition.

I think this is topic for errata and we should not change how installer works. RC is out and there is not too much time to test this.

I agree. I wonder if this is reproducible for live isos...

Added to errata: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_4_Errata#Classic_Installer_DVDs
Comment 4 Anne Nicolas 2014-01-20 18:45:48 CET
If added in errata, then we can leave that bug opened to get it fixed after release but decrease priority

Comment 5 Frank Griffin 2014-01-20 19:15:11 CET
A related issue is that btrfs is set as the default type for a created partition. Also, even if you specify ext4 when creating a partition, if you exit without formatting and re-enter diskdrake, the type has been reset to btrfs.
