Description martyn vidler 2013-12-29 15:49:05 CET
Description of problem:
Mag4 B2 xfce 32 bit.
fresh install of xfce when desktop background is changed to eiher a user picture or 1 from drop down list, it will not stick after reboot.

I have checked in the setting editor and the path is set but always on reboot I get default xfce background.

Also the setting for to remember what was running on logout is ticked, and works as programs left open start on login.

looks to work here (using a png from userdrake)

confirmed but should be in a separate bug

Nope I have tried again I even put the picture in xfce background dir. I changed desktop background by right click on desktop, desktop settings and also settings display "although the same"

Also as mentioned if I change to 1 from drop down list it still wont stick after reboot.

Can't reproduce this issue with freshly installed mga4b2. Tried with image dl'ed from the Internet and images coming with Xfce.

1. Which dm are you using?

2. Could you do 'grep image-path ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-desktop.xml' before and after reboot?

3. Are any other settings reverted to "default value" after reboot?

1. Anything weird in ~/.xsession-errors?

2. Could you attach ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-desktop.xml?

3. Do you have more than one displays?

4. Does this also happen with a fresh/new user?

1 Only error in .xsession-errors is
"Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

2 File attached above

3 There is only 1 display

4 The same when new user added. I only used a image from drop down list, but still wont stick.

5. Under the drop down list there are 3 buttons (+ - and edit) only the add button works the remove and edit button are greyed out?

Ok update

I added a logout button "which is not loaded by default" there is a tick box save session which I unticked, "although i had done this in settings/session startup".
Also an update this morning when restarted image had stuck??? And after many tries still sticks so

Thanks for your help

Just a thought would it not be a good idea to have a Logout option as default?
