Description Frédéric "LpSolit" Buclin 2011-05-08 14:33:01 CEST
Perl 5.14 is going to be released this month, see http://perlnews.org/2011/05/perl-5-14-0-release-candidate-2-now-available-for-testing/:

"If no âshowstopperâ class bugs are found in the next 7 days, Perl5-Porters will release a virtually identical tarball as Perl 5.14.0 on Wednesday, May 11."

It would be great to have Perl 5.14 available as RPM in Mageia 2, either as a replacement for the current Perl 5.12.3, or at least as an alternative Perl version which could be installed besides Perl 5.12.3.
Comment 1 Michael Scherer 2011-05-16 11:27:08 CEST
perl 5.14 would likely be upgraded, like the others packages, once mageia 1 is out. There is no need to open bug report for that...

Indeed it's too late for Mageia 1 which is in RC stage.
Especially for a core package that impacts quite a lot of core components (installer, package manager, config tools, control center, ...)

Why are you talking about Mageia 1? In my comment 0, I explicitly mentioned Mageia 2. Why is this bug marked as WONTFIX??
Comment 4 Thierry Vignaud 2011-05-16 17:50:14 CEST
Because:
- it's not a bug
- perl will be updated as soon as mageia 1 will be released
- so as told, there's no point in opening bug reports for
  such things
- shorter bug lists are easier to read

If we had have the LATER resolution, I would have closed as RESOLVED/LATER

frederic: be sure that as soon as freeze is over, we'll update perl to 5.14
Comment 6 Jerome Quelin 2011-06-20 16:18:55 CEST
fwiw - cauldron now provides perl 5.14.1
Comment 7 Thierry Vignaud 2011-06-20 21:33:45 CEST
Changing resolution
