Description of problem:  applied updates to mga4 and installer offered to clobber my /etc/fstab.  

Not sure if this should be Normal or Major -- chose Major because it puts users too close to losing /etc/fstab

How reproducible:  not sure


Steps to Reproduce:
1. apply updates
2. installation finishes and gives: setup-2.7.20-9.mga4.noarch:/etc/fstab

Original fstab:

which would make the system unusable with no way to login -- the root password would be removed and all my userids removed also...

You mean you did a live upgrade with rpmdrake & MgaUpdate? Not with the classic DVD installer?

If you mean mcc's "Software Management->Update your system"; then yes. Just Like I've always done -- I never use DVD installs.

Humm, it's not supposed to offer people to merge changes for /etc/fstab or shadow...

Agree.. especially with mostly empty files...  Got what you need? Or do you need me to send along the list of packages that got updated all at once (~480 since I got busy for about a week)?

well it's the setup rpm no ?

looks not blocker as I think it's not updated in a stable release
