When trying to print some PDFs, I get the following error and the files are not printed.

The printer itself reports "The job was reset".

I was able to print the pdfs after processing them with 'pdf2pdf'. I still would not call this an "easy workaround" since normal users will not be able to to this.

Yes, still valid. Tested just now with a up-to-date Mageia 3, using attached PDF

prints fine for me. So I assume fixed.
