beside removing lxde and mate which is only partial (it is the rpmsrate that pull some package inside it but not the needed one like (guess) -panel ?) I found nothing personally, cinnamon could be good to keep Assignee:

ennael1 What does the following command show for the "4 GB" card? udisks --show-info /dev/sde |grep -e size Replace sde with the appropriate device. CC:

davidwhodgins For Kingston SDHC 4GB SD-K04G 1042 WG6417F ... bash-4.2$ udisks --show-info /dev/sdc |grep -e size size: 3957325824 block size: 512 Thanks. So the i586 dvd needs to shrink by 138,412,032 bytes, and the x86 dvd by 98,566,144 bytes. Anne, removing the kernel-source and the qt4-doc from both should be enough to make them fit. I'll keep this bug bookmarked, and check the iso sizes for beta 1. The beta1 i586 is currently 4150263808 bytes, so it needs to shrink by 192,937,984 bytes. The beta1 x86_64 iso is 4143972352 byes, so it needs to shrink by 186,646,528 bytes. Removing the kernel-source, and qt4-doc would remove around 200MB, and get the iso images to fit on a "4GB" stick. eeeemail kernel devel are needed by dkms but we can certainly drop source if it helps, yes, and qt4-doc. I agree with Dave, these would be easy packages to lose. both packages added in exclude list of bcd for DVDs The beta2 x86_64 dvd is currently 3,961,520,128 bytes. Just over the 3,957,325,824 limit. Looking at the packages included, I'd recommend removing stellarium. Just a reminder, before the new iso images are built that the size limit is 3,957,325,824 bytes, which the latest beta2 x86_64 iso image is over. Fixed in beta 2 isos Status:

RESOLVED I think this bug should be kept open till the final is released, just to make sure we don't forget about it. Status:

REOPENED Closing this bug. There is now a warning included in bcd to avoid too big isos Status:

RESOLVED Latest final x86_64 dvd is over again. Status:
RESOLVED =>
REOPENED It needs to shrink by 5,242,880 bytes. I'd remove either gnuchess (18M) or celestia 33M). Ah, yeah this is a fallout of adding uefi stub to the iso and we also need to add efibootmgr, but that is only ~100k extra CC:

tmb LXDE was added back in this last round too. It's looking OK though. Latest x86_64 dvd iso is 3890216960 bytes, so well within the 3957325824 byte limit. Closing the bug report. Resolution:

6sta1 To make it easier to fit packages on the the iso's, I think we should change the limit to that of a standard DVD iso, which is about 4.7 Gb or 4.37 Gib. This will give us about 10% more space. Thus requiring a USB key of 8G, since a 4G key has a little less than 4G usable space. 8G USB keys are very inexpensive, and often the smallest size available in many stores. CC:

I agree. 4GB USB flash drives are becoming unavailable in stores, with the next smallest size being 8GB. The DVD size makes sense. CC:

consider making the size of the classic installation iso's smaller This decision has been made to stop supporting 4GB usb sticks. The limit is now back to being based on the size of a single layer dvd drive, 4.38GiB. Closing the bug report. Resolution:

FIXED For future reference, according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD the limit for a +R single layer dvd is 4,700,372,992 bytes. |
