Triaged That's all your details? bootloader-utils doesn't have to handle mdadm. It just add an entry to grub config, telling the kernel where is the root fs according to /etc/fstab and then calls dracut, which is responsible for setting up anything that is needed for booting (LVM, raid, ...) Status:
