Description Pavel Kreuzt 2013-09-29 16:36:55 CEST
Description of problem: I'm using iw to create a virtual interface based on my ath9k wireless interface. The newly created interface name is renameX even when I specify wlan2, for example, as name for it:

[root@Laptop pkreuzt]# iw dev wlan0 interface add wlan2 type adhoc
[root@Laptop pkreuzt]# iwconfig
eth0 no wireless extensions.

lo no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:"XXXXX"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
          Bit Rate=13 Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm
          Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:on
          Link Quality=30/70 Signal level=-80 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:366 Invalid misc:51 Missed beacon:0

rename11 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:off/any
          Mode:Ad-Hoc Cell: Not-Associated Tx-Power=15 dBm
          Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off

It also appears using phy like "iw phy phy0 interface add wlan2 type adhoc"

Should this be against Cauldron Pavel? It is set to Mga3.
