Description of problem:
Request wxPython 2.9.5.0 Package
A lot of software is using 2.9.x branch now and it isn't available as a package.
I wouldn't expect every user to try and build/install it from source.
It should be easy for a new user to install it from the package manager.

Note: There are a few things that need modified to
/usr/local/wxPython-src-2.xxx/wxPython/config.py
to get it to build correctly, detailed here at the mailinglist.

Most all of my software/sourcecode requires at least something from it.
2.9.5 is quite stable and has an enormous amount of fixes over 2.8 branch.
Many fixes with updated Scintilla included also.

Thanks for the report.  Unfortunately wxPython is unmaintained in Mageia, and it seems it has been since Mageia started.  That's why it hasn't been updated.  We could really use more package maintainers, and if you're interested in this package, you could maintain it, especially if you are familiar with it and know what needs to be done to update it.  Alternatively, you can post any patches needed to this bug (included the needed SPEC file changes) and someone else can commit it, but becoming a packager yourself would be the ideal solution.

Just so you know, October 15th is the last day that we can submit new versions of packages for Mageia 4 without a really compelling reason to update (generally bugfix and security updates only).

wxPython has been updated to 3.0.0.0 in Cauldron by Funda, so this will be updated in Mageia 5.

Thanks! The last stable wx2.8 was about 7-8 years ago. Good to see this getting updated.
