Altough firefox-fr is installed, my firefox installation is still in english. I tried a new profile, and a new user, same result.

I can confirm this bug. Same here with firefox 24.0 (ESR) in Alpha2 and german locals. Firefox-de is installed, the interface is still in english.

Firefox-de is deactivated in the language-section of add-ons after install. So you have to activate the language-pack there and after a restart the inteface is in the desired language.

Clean install of the updated firefox today, but the interface is still in english and the german language pack is still disabled in the add-ons section.

Same here on Mageia 4 alpha3, with firefox-fr installed but disabled as default. BTW I have the Estonian ID cards plug-in installed by default in Alpha3, is it intended? (my locale is French, I installed from the KDE4 64b LiveDVD)

According to http://mike.kaply.com/2013/04/24/major-changes-coming-in-firefox-21/ we should change the location of our custom preferences file. IMHO also http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/firefox/current/SPECS/firefox.spec?r1=480717&r2=484046 was unnecessary, and currently this file is not in effect.

Probably more settings and files are affected by that change.

I'm currently taking a look at it, as we also need this fixed before backporting FF 24 ESR to Mageia 3.

Simple test in cauldron with a fresh profile shows that none of our preferences, bookmarks or settings is in effect. Currently building, will commit when build is through.

firefox-24.0-5.mga4 is currently building and should hit the mirrors soon. Please check and reopen if there's still an issue. 

BTW: I've added https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Updates_Firefox#For_QA to ensure this will get tested for future updates.

Good question, actually that firefox page was a bit alone on the wiki, so I've added it with the proper category to the QA procedures: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Category:Testing_procedures and filled out the part for QA, so it should be considered.

Also tried to ping somebody from QA team on IRC, but nobody replied yesterday.
