Hi Claire,

can you please upload a reproducing file (or the reproducing beginning thereof, which is often enough)? VLC seems to work fine here. I also see it is Mageia 3 i586 (is it correct?) I guess I'll have to use a VM.

Regards,

It may be protected by copyright Shlomi, sadly I can't upload it.
I could speak with you privately about this though.

It is Mageia 3 x86_64 actually

Hardware: i586 => x86_64

One thing that jumps out is perhaps ffmpeg using hardware

Hi Claire,

(In reply to claire robinson from comment #7)
> One thing that jumps out is perhaps ffmpeg using hardware

thanks for the input and providing the vlcrc.

Playing the .mp4 file you sent with the offending vlcrc works for me fine on:

1. On my desktop machine running Cauldron with an Intel graphics card and a Core i3 processor.

2. On my laptop running Cauldron with an ATI Mobility Radeon card (cannot run x86-64 VMs there due to a CPU limitation).

3. On an x86_64 VBox VM running Mageia Linux 3.

Anyway, please provide some details about the hardware where this failure happens, and you can also try bisecting the configuration until you find the directive or set of directives that cause the problem:

Thanks!

Hi,

in addition to what I wrote, you may wish to find a file that reproduces the problem and that is under a less restrictive licence. You can download some free-as-in-speech files from http://www.bigbuckbunny.org/index.php/download/ and you can try converting a file from a different format into something similar to what you have using ffmpeg.

Mageia 3 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status 4 months ago.
http://blog.mageia.org/en/2014/11/26/lets-say-goodbye-to-mageia-3/

Mageia 3 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
