At the moment no time to test, but when I mount the drive it is installed in (from active other drive), I can see there is no file /etc/X11/wmsession.d/02GNOME at all, which should be there. High Funny, task-gnome-minimal never required gnome-shell. Added this in 3.9.90. Olav, I guess you mean gnome-session (as per comment 5) ? gnome-session is useless without gnome-shell, gnome-shell requires gnome-session. gnome-shell still might not have every dependency needed, but let's see.
