mplayer from tainted on Mageia 3 still does require libdvdcss, nothing has changed regarding that. As for VLC, it does not require it, but it did not require it on Mageia 2 either. The VLC package has a note in its package description saying that you will need to install libdvdcss to enable that functionality. I'm closing this as INVALID, but also CC'ing the VLC maintainer to make sure he sees this, just in case he wants to add it as a requires. Status:

RESOLVED I am just curious, does this mean that a new bug should be filled for mplayer that does require libdvdcss? or is it part of the mplayer tainted package? As for VLC ... it would be nice to have it to play the DVD's. When I installed the Mageia3 VLC from tainted, it could not play DVD's untill I installed libdvdcss. Is a "requires" different from a "dependency"? Thanks for the help. Cheers, Marc |
