arbedall Sorry, it worked for 3 scans with the "image acquisition"and stop with: can not access to the Peripherique. Test with simple Scan => error failure of digitization, impossible to connect to Peripheral. Then test from from the scanner pressing 'Scan' and then to File and USB connection the printer displays 'connection to PC' and remains so. i tried with windows => it's ok in fact there where two problèms : -one with 60-libscan.rules -another one with a problèm inside my usb cable THANKS JPL Status:

RESOLVED (In reply to j pierre LAJOIE from comment #5) > in fact there where two problèms : > -one with 60-libscan.rules > -another one with a problèm inside my usb cable Is it really fixed now, as in that the libscan.rules in Cauldron contains the proper definition? I have slightly modified the 60-libscan.rules file because my printer is not a DCP-165C but DCP-J4110Dw with theses lines :
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04f9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="02C2", MODE="0644", GROUP="usb", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"
# Brother DCP-J4110DW
#MODE="0666"
#GROUP="scanner"
ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"
#SYMLINK+="scanner-%k"
since it's works perfectly
it's good for me

Description of problem: Even though the built-in scanner of the DCP-165C multifunction printer is recognized by the Mageia control center after installing the drivers from the Brother web site, regular users cannot access the scanning functionality. It is only available to root. I had to manually add the following line to /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-libsane.rules to make things work: ATTRS{idVendor}=="04f9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0204", MODE="0644", GROUP="usb", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes" # Brother DCP-165C I suspect lots more scanners are missing from the list that could be easily added by data-mining Linux hardware databases. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.0.23-7.mga3 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start simple-scan 2. Press scan button 3. Connection error occurs Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
