Hi Otto, I updated the gnome-shell-theme-elegance-colors to the 2.9 version for Cauldron.

Please test it and report here.

IIUC the current theme (from the Mageia 4 package) is not working under Mageia 4 with Gnome 3.10?

I have moved my main system to gnome shell and it's working with rebuild cauldron version to mageia 4,it's engine so it's working with older gnome versions too.

One forum user mentioned that he gets a popup during gnome login that he should install the elegance theme, which he has installed already. Cf. https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10590

Can someone please verify if this is valid for mga5, as comment 5 only mentions cauldron rebuild to mga4, which is EOL. And we have the same version in cauldron and mga5 now, which could also mean both are broken.

For one, theme seems to be dead upstream and misses gnome-shell 3.16 support. See https://github.com/satya164/elegance-colors/issues/54 where the author also asks someone to take over maintenance.

For 3.16 it seems to work to copy over the 3.14 theme files over, as mentioned in https://github.com/satya164/elegance-colors/issues/54#issuecomment-90890954

But for mga5 we would need an update as 2.9 only support up to gnome-shell 3.12 and we have 3.14 in mga5.

FWIW, pushed 3.0 to cauldron: http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages?view=revision&revision=911288
Comment 9 Otto Leipälä 2016-01-15 15:11:04 CET
I would say obsolete it,it's totally useless to wait that engine have future releases and development and keep it only for that.

Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes.

You might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager

gnome-shell-theme-elegance-colors got obsoleted since MGA6.

The gnome page states only compatibility up tp Gnome Shell 3.10

Closing OLD (even if WONTFIX would fit better).
