alien, thierry.vignaud It tried the "cirrus" driver whereas there's a KMS driver for this card now. Can you report the result of the following command: lspcidrake -v | grep Card Also, can you confirm if picking the "modesetting" driver in XFdrake fixes your issue? Just click on the "Graphic Card" button, then choose "modesetting" in the "xorg" branch of the tree. Keywords:

NEEDINFO @thierry: i expect that this is the cirrus driver, because in KVM the default grapic emulated model is "cirrus". i too had weird issues in mga3 with cirrus model, i just switched in KVM settings to vga model instead. though i would hope qxl might become default for mga4 Thierry: [root@localhost ~]# lspcidrake -v | grep Card Card:Cirrus Logic GD54xx-based cards: Cirrus Logic|GD 5446 [DISPLAY_VGA] (vendor:1013 device:00b8 subv:1af4 subd:1100) When tried XFdrake and selected "modesetting" in the "xorg" which gave. No package named x11-driver-video-modesetting Tried to install x11-driver-video-modesetting from local media.

Just add the whole network media (in Mageia Control Center: "Software Media Manager" => "Add" Thanks, x11-driver-video-modesetting installation worked. Did it worked?

PATCH Created attachment 4061 [details]
fix default driver for Cirrus GD54xx
if the modesetting driver works fine, could you check that XFdrake generates the right config after running the following commands as root in a terminal:
cd /usr/share/ldetect-lst/
patch -p2 < /where/it/was/downloaded/10263.diff
Thierry, was this patch applied, or else what are the next steps for this bug? It wasn't applied because nobody tested it on real hardware Mageia 3 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status 4 months ago. http://blog.mageia.org/en/2014/11/26/lets-say-goodbye-to-mageia-3/ Mageia 3 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia and reopen this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. -- The Mageia Bugsquad Status:
