kamz I expect that is it. HP 1020 and P1006 are quite similar printers (need load firmware before printing). I had a similar problem with my HP Deskjet 1050 on an installation from the live KDE CD but got it working in the end. Unfortunately, after that I decided to try fresh installations from a couple of other media, then I went back to an installation from the live KDE CD and now I can't get it to work at all, not even by manually installing packages.
