Description Xuo 2013-05-20 10:47:03 CEST
Description of problem:
I have been unabled to update from Mageia2 to Mageia3 using the notification applet.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
x86_64

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

1. urpmi --auto-update
As the applet didn't tell me a new version was available :
2. mgaapplet-upgrade-helper --new_distro_version=3
3.At the end of the installation, I have been notified it has failed :
In file /root/.MgaOnLine/gurpmi_upgrade_to_3_vB1wHTOt.log, I have a lot of :

L'installation a échouée :
	rpmlib(X-CheckUnifiedSystemdir) est nécessaire pour filesystem-2.1.9-20.mga3.x86_64

L'installation a échouée :
	perl-base >= 2:5.16.2 est nécessaire pour perl-MDV-Distribconf-4.02-7.mga3.noarch

...

I am currently updating with the DVD.

Regards.

Eric Bouyoux.

Did you read this before you started upgrade: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_3_Release_Notes#Upgrading_via_the_Internet ?

I think you did not :)

     * Before making any changes to your configuration, ensure you have all packages up-to-date and then install the mageia-prepare-upgrade package.

     * Once installed, reboot your computer and select the "Mageia 3 Upgrade Preparation" boot option.

     * After rebooting and confirming that the usrmove has completed successfully (check via ls -l / that /bin and /lib etc. are symlinks) you can continue.

Did you do that?

rpmlib(X-CheckUnifiedSystemdir) makes me think that your usrmove wasn't successful or you didn't run it at all.

and it's also in the errata

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => INVALID

Comment 5 Xuo 2013-05-20 13:44:06 CEST
No, I didn't do that because :
urpmi mageia-prepare-upgrade
Pas de paquetage nommé mageia-prepare-upgrade
I translate : No package named mageia-prepare-upgrade

So I did what I wrote when I open the bug report.
Did you read it ? I think you didn't :)

Resolution: INVALID => FIXED

Comment 6 Manuel Hiebel 2013-05-20 13:58:28 CEST

Next time wait or report problem :) Skipping important steps won't help ;)

To Manuel Hiebel :
It means I should have added updates_testing to the urpmi database to get the mageia-prepare-upgrade package before I run "mgaapplet-upgrade-helper --new_distro_version=3" ?
Comment 9 Manuel Hiebel 2013-05-20 14:44:56 CEST
yep, but packages where moved in updates, but without regenerating the repository info, it should be now fixed (and come soon on mirrors)

Thanks. From https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_3_:_Notes_de_Version_-_FR#Mise_.C3.A0_niveau_de_Mageia_2, I had understood that if magonline didn't inform me that a new version was available, I just had to "mgaapplet-upgrade-helper --new_distro_version=3"
