ennael1 works here it mount my sda1 partition (the only one) iirc if you use a i586 install you have to use an i586 dvd iso was it your case ? (I tested x86_64) works here with only one OS iirc if you use a i586 install you have to use an i586 dvd iso was it your case ? (I tested x86_64) I will test with two OSs on my other dd. oups sorry Manuel, yes I understand one can rescue arch-x only with an arch-x iso, but that is not the point. The problem is that neither iso (32 or 64 bit) will mount existing partitions that are existing on the HD (both 64 bits in my tests so far). Mounting partitions works for me using the rescue bootstrapped through boot.iso on i586. I have a / and /home on this install (on a Dell Optiplex 990). Re-install bootloader however, does not. I see this: grub> root (hd0,4) Error 21: Selected disk does not exist grub> setup --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 (hd0) Error 12: Invalid device requested grub> quit Works here even on my laptop with two OSs (reinstalling bootloader was not working but I choose grub2 and there was nothing added in the rescue for that iirc) I feel lousy. Trying on my main machine with 2nd set of prerelease isos it works, and going back to the laptop it now starts to work there as well. closing sorry for hellraising Status:
